Dr Ed Ng – Chair of Governors

• Ed is a retired GP. His two boys attended Mayfield Prep School before moving on to Queen Mary's Grammar School. His boys benefited enormously from Mayfield's nourishing environment, which gave them confidence in their critical early years. The supportive environment led his younger son to describe his Mayfield days as his "home away from home".
• Ed was appointed as a Governor at Mayfield from 2006 to 2011, but had to give up his role due to work pressure at the time. Since his retirement, he has rejoined the team in 2021.

David Williams

• Sheffield-born David moved to the Midlands for the first of his three headships in 2004 and knows the area well as his mother’s family hail from Great Barr.
• Since qualifying at Cambridge in 1988, in a teaching career spanning thirty-five years in seven schools, David has occupied most leadership positions and has been an ISI inspector since 2004.
• David’s last job as Director of Estates and Compliance of a prep school has been a useful foil for teaching, as having retired from full-time work in 2022, he is now an educational consultant combining that with regular work for ISI. His speciality is compliance in education and health & safety.
